How light changes a space
The same room looks different several times a day — how window orientation shapes that.
North light barely changes through the day: shadows stay soft and colours remain stable. That is why desks and drawing areas are usually placed on this side.
A south window is the opposite — the light is strong and travels across the room during the day. In summer that means extra heat; a shading element, a balcony overhang or vertical fins solve it.
West-facing evening sun is the hardest: it arrives at a low angle, so curtains alone are often not enough. Reducing the window at the design stage is better than ending up with a room nobody uses in the afternoon.
